GNCJ Workshop: What is happening in NYCHA?

February 27 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

NYCHA has garnered news over the last few months for a series of scandals from lack of heat and hot water, to unreported lead paint, to failures in remediating mold in apartments. But how did we get there and how do we fight to ensure safe and healthy conditions for NYCHA residents across the city? As a part of the Gowanus neighborhood rezoning process facilitated by the Department of City Planning (DCP) and Council Members Brad Lander and Stephen Levin, the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) is demanding substantial allocation of funding to meet long outstanding capital needs of local public housing communities before significant real estate development begins. Join us on February 27th to learn more about the coalition’s demands and how you can get more involved, including our efforts to reopen Gowanus Houses Community Center.
