What is Affordable Housing? A CUP Workshop

The phrase “affordable housing” seems plain enough, but it doesn’t always mean what people think it does. It actually has a technical definition, which can determine what gets built and who gets to live there. The Affordable Housing Toolkit helps communities answer the all-important question, “Affordable to whom?”

This workshop will continue on from previous conversations by the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) on zoning, and trade-offs to discuss how the city of New York defines affordability based on the spectrum of incomes in our region as well as how Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) will come into play when new development is built in Gowanus.
