Join us for a workshop facilitated by the Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) on what affordable housing means in New York City and how do we demand the city do more to make sure the thousands of new units planned to be built in our community as a result of the Gowanus Neighborhood Rezoning process serve the needs of local residents. We will talk about Mandatory Inclusionary Housing \, a city program that requires that a certain percentage of new buildings are affordable to certain incomes. Also learn about the efforts of the Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) to advocate for affordable housing at income levels comparable to local public housing residents and for an explicit NYCHA preference for these new apartments. \n \nTo RSVP\, contact Nashly at ntorresparades@fifthave.org or (718) 237 – 2017 x171. \nShare FUREE with the World:TweetMorePrintLike this:Like Loading...\n\n Related\n URL:http://furee.org/event/gncj-workshop-understanding-affordable-housing-in-nyc-and-mandatory-inclusionary-housing/ LOCATION:Fifth Avenue Committee\, 621 Degraw Street\, Brooklyn\, 11221\, United States CATEGORIES:Anti-Displacement,Community Engagement & Development,NYCHA Accountability ORGANIZER;CN="Michael%20Higgins%20Jr":MAILTO:michael@furee.org END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
