Join residents across the city who are OUTRAGED by the recent exposé revealing that NYCHA sits on $1 BILLION in unused federal funds while ignoring residents’ needs.

Quality housing is a human right and public housing residents deserve TRANSPARENCY and RESPECT from NYCHA.

It’s time to STAND UP and FIGHT to preserve and protect public housing, for our rights to timely repairs, jobs for residents, replacement of lost units, resident control of public housing and to make OUR HOMES a symbol of quality housing!

RESIDENTS DEMANDS:

 Move the Money!

  • o Utilize funds to meet residents’ repair and maintenance needs
  • o Utilize funds to strengthen Section 3 to provide more training and placement opportunities for residents
  • o Utilize funds to truly preserve and protect public housing

 Independent Oversight of NYCHA

  • o Develop an oversight committee that is INDEPENDENT from the Mayor’s Office that includes NYCHA residents, elected officials and community-based organizations

 MORE Resident Control

  • o Resident elections of all NYCHA Board Members
  • o Redesign the NYCHA Board to include more resident positions.
  • o Increase resident participation by strengthening resident representation in bodies such as the TA through increased resident education in NYHCA’s policies
  • o Set aside funding for a NYCHA Participatory Budgeting program for capital projects
