For over two weeks FUREE members, staff, allies and local Gowanus public housing residents ran a relief center to address the immediate needs of hundeds of tenants living for without power, heat and hot water after Hurricane Sandy.

We thank the countless volunteers, donors, and inspiring community leaders who came together in this moment of need and of solidarity.  On November 12th we closed down relief efforts after services were restored to all buildings. Read more »

Council Member Stephen Levin is empowering residents in the 33rd District to engage in a bottom-up process of deciding how $1million will be spent on physical improvements within the community (like parks, schools and transportation).  And FUREE is on board, energizing our members, and making sure low-income people of color and public housing residents are at the table in the diverse district.
